Seven Ways Of Making Money Writing What You Love

We have all heard great men and life coaches say “Make your passion your pay check”. This belief stems from the thought that if you love what you do, you won’t get tired of doing it neither will you get bored. Doing something you love pushes you to put in your best.

As a writer who is passionate about the craft, there are different ways of making it your pay check. If you can weave words into something worth reading, then you can earn from writing. You can make money by writing high quality articles, blog posts, news letter, press releases and e-books for clients who need them.

In order to actually start making money from writing, first you have to have the required materials: Before starting out to be a writer, you have to have a personal computer, an internet connection. With the personal computer, you type whatever work you have at hand, you save your work there. The internet connection is for research purposes, having an online presence and for communicating with clients through emails or posts.

You also need to have time; writing is a brain tasking job. Your brain always has to be well prepared to churn out ideas and this will not happen every time. You will need time for preparing, creating a rough sketch and doing the actual writing.
With all these materials in place, then here are some ways of making money writing what you love

1. Get Published: if you are interested in writing fiction or nonfiction, you can always write and submit your manuscript to publishing houses. If the publishing house thinks your book is worth publishing and would have an audience, they will contact you. Getting published might not necessarily make you rich overnight but it gives you prestige. Being a published author opens door for more opportunities like consulting, public speaking and training programmes.

2. Write an E-book: getting self published has become easier due to emergence of digital age. Traditional publishers are becoming redundant. It has become fairly easy and cheap to publish a book electronically. These books can be sold on Wattpad, Okada books and Amazon after publishing. Your E-book can be a novel or even an information packed guide for people who want to learn more about a topic.

3. Start a blog: starting a blog can be a sort of long term way of getting income but then a blog is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes a lot of effort, persistence and perseverance. Making your blog popular enough to draw traffic means you have to consistently write excellent articles that people want to read and over time, search engines will begin to move your blog to the top of search options and your site begins to gain credibility.

4. Become a guest blogger: it is common among bloggers to write blog posts for each other’s blog. Getting an opportunity to write for a reputable blog gives you quick exposure and you will gain subscribers which in turn will increase traffic to your blog if your article is superbly written.

5. Freelance: you can begin to submit articles to blogs, newspapers and magazines. There are different topics to choose to write about and blogs and dailies will often need new articles. Your articles could be informational, tips or advice.

6. Offer a service: you can offer proofreading and editing service. You can also offer consultancy service. With your writing skills, you can decide to help other writers perfect the craft. You can help them in editing their work.  Editing helps you master the craft, when you read the work of other writers you begin to get ideas. Editing charges could be hourly or per page.

7. Become a ghost writer: There are people who may have what to say but might not be able to write it down for public consumption. They are only good at speaking. You can be of service by offering your writing services to them. You use your words to write for them in their voice and the work is published under their name rather than yours. Ghost writers are mostly found through word of mouth since not everyone will be willing to advertise the fact that someone else writes for them.

You don’t have to try all these options at once to make money. You can choose whichever one that suits you. Remember some days might not be all rosy but with effort and persistence, you can begin to get pay checks from your passion.
